Gun Control?

I get pretty damn disgusted with the way that the general media shorthand of "gun control" gets blathered about. A gun is an inanimate object created by human ingenuity and inventiveness, the debate somehow leads to the impression that guns are a problem.

This is arrant nonsense, it's about time the debate shifted into reality. The problem is most definitely not the guns in and of themselves, it's a fucking HUMAN problem! The roots of this are in the nature of our system of government as laid out in the Second Amendment to the Constitution and our collective frame of mind as Americans coupled with who we are as a species living in a rather twisted world of our own creation. No amount of "feel-good, look-good" legislative or executive action that has, as its focus, guns, will do anything to address the underlying problem of our collective psychopathology in the 21st century.

I have no ready answers. Give me some time and I may be able to come up with suggestions.... meanwhile, lets quit with this simpleminded drivel about "gun control" lest I lose control of my gag reflex and go find a politician or pundit to spew my last meal on. I hate wasting a good meal.

Lies

Can't remember who said it, maybe Sam Clemens or H. L. Mencken... is something like:
"There's lies, damn lies and then there's statistics."

We have entered an age of complete information confusion because of that pithy bit of wisdom. I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time exercising my internal bullshit filter just to get to the reality of our everyday lives, lots of garbage, not enough reality.

I'll try and post more frequently as I've finally landed in a place and time where that becomes possible again.

Willard?

Now, this is rather amusing...

When I was a child growing up in suburban Detroit my parents were apparently devoted Republicans and, as such, played host to the Governor at that time in our house for some kind of political function. Me being totally clueless, I did what was expected of me, being a child of the era, and was "seen but not heard" while the local Republican elite gathered in our living room to hear whatever George Romney had to say.... I have absolutely no memory of the particular verbiage bandied about (thankfully) but I can't help but wonder, given current events, what might have been if I had changed up into "obscene and herd" mode at some highly inappropriate moment of the proceedings....

Willard might not be.... a moment in history was in my grasp and I fluffed it. Had I decided to defecate in the back seat of his car or spike his drink with vodka from mom and dad's liquor cabinet or any of a thousand other little weirdnesses we might not be looking at his clownish, clueless, rapacious and useless son as a "Presidential Candidate" today.

And so much for that.

An Experiment

Change of privacy settings, now anybody can read this fucker.

I'm gonna give it a while and see what happens, if I feel like it, I'll switch back to the old privacy settings. The web is so wide open that it has always given me a bad case of the squealing bejeebers about letting my admittedly wretched weirdness escape beyond the notice of my like-minded compadres into the swirling cesspool out in the great beyond.

Willful Ignorance

What a mess.
I read as widely as I can and listen pretty carefully to the world around me and I'm now crossing over from exasperated to seriously pissed off.... There was a time when my maternal grandparents were alive and well that my world held promise of better things to come - in fits and starts I have been witness to a great unravelling of the sweater of life. Pick one thread, start pulling on it and, pretty soon, the whole thing disintegrates into chaos.
Our world is on the verge of a great change - greed, ignorance and warfare seem to be the dominant themes currently and what comes after is anybody's guess. The MoneyFreaks who think they run the show are in for a rude awakening, what they have is a fictional delusion sustained by nothing.... When it all falls down, the rest of humanity either grows up or dies.
I might be an old guy but, all things being what they really are, I'd like to stay alive a bit longer to see if I can help make something better out of the inevitable wreckage......
