Not Again.....
As a born and raised citizen of the United Stated of America of well over a half a century's worth of experience wandering all over our wonderful and varied country, what I see happening currently is far, far beyond anything that was envisioned by the folks who founded this Republic more than 200 years ago.
I'd have to exhaust both a dictionary and then consult a thesaurus to dig up any word I may have missed to describe the genuine evil that is running the government in my beloved home and I would still probably miss a word or two.
I've lived through a lot.... I still remember where I was and what I was doing at school when John Fitzgerald Kennedy had his head blown open in Dallas and we all were gathered into our classrooms until our bus drivers could get there and all of our parents had been contacted. That's when I realised that this was a part of me and I was part of a larger thing, all of us together.
Today, we have all of my worst nightmares running amok within the government, being destroyers just... because.
We were warned about this from the beginning, falling into "factions" would lead to bad results, time has proven that correct. We have two contenders currently, the "Democrats" and the "Republicans", neither of which are worth trading a bent penny for a bucket of cold spit.
This current government, however, has gone so far out into la-la land with out and out lies, wretched policies and a cult of personality that the "Republican" party has been hijacked by this cult of personality; Der Trumpenfuhrer.
The "Democratic" party has long since been bought and sold to the highest bidder (same as the "Republican" party) and they are incoherent and, generally, incompetent when it comes to throwing those spike strips that cops sometimes use to deflate some damn fool's tires in the path of rotten and retrograde legislation/executive policy before any more damage gets done.
Time for something better. If I'm not mistaken, there are more registered Independents in our country than either republithugs or democrapsters..... If this is the case, we should make sure and use that leverage to get things together for all of us, not the delusional fantasy-brains who are fumbling with the levers of power and insuring that our country will do a header into El Capitan in the near future and leave needless destruction in its wake.

Fuck The NRA
Yesterday's marches around the country (and the world) concerning our inaction when it comes to gun violence should be a wakeup call for all those NRA whores in our government. The last time the kids got almighty and royally pissed off, we now have the 26th Amendment to our Constitution. After being drafted into the Army at age 18, handed an M 16 and sent halfway around the world to shoot and be shot at by people we had no personal quarrel with and not having any say in who the elected officials were who made those decisions, the kids stood up and my generation got the vote.
We said "enough!" and made it happen.
I'm fucking proud of the kids from Florida, they stood up and said "ENOUGH!" on a worldwide stage and any politician who fails to pay attention will be in deep shit when they turn 18 and vote....
Don't get me wrong, I'm a gun guy, got taught all the essentials of firearm safety when I was ten or so years old at summer camp, .22 cal shorts from a bolt-action single shot rifle and I've never forgotten the lessons imparted by our NRA certified instructor. I still love to shoot, I'm a member of a local gun range where a bunch of us get together to have fun honing our skills when it ain't winter. But.....
Fuck the NRA.
They have turned into something foul and obscene and make all of us gun-totin' Deadheads look bad. I let my membership lapse many years ago precisely because I saw the direction they were going and I didn't want anything to do with them ever again. The entire concept of today's NRA deserves to be put in an old wooden rowboat soaked in creosote, set adrift on the Berkeley Pit in Butte, MT, set on fire and burned down to the waterline. I'd lay odds on the Pit spitting the remains out as even too toxic for it....

I'm saddened at the loss of life and all the injuries when the chartered Amtrak full of Repunklikans headed for a retreat at the Greenbrier to plot the further destruction of our Republic completely demolished a local garbage truck at grade crossing at 60 mph or so.
On the other hand, I can't think of a better metaphor for what these demented freaks are attempting to do to the (once) United States of America than running right through a mobile vehicle full of waste, scattering it everywhere......

I love the English language, you can convey soaring concepts in thousand page books or become as concise as possible with just two words.
Life in the (supposedly) United States of America has degenerated badly because of the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania and I went looking for a pair of words that could encapsulate things.
